Why did the yankees release Randy Winn?

Something's confusing me. Me had an absolutely fabulous batting average, a splendid number of homeruns, and a consistently awesome number of hits and RBIs. Although he struck out a couple times, he was so clutch and could really smash and whack the ball out of the park like a rocket. Our lineup sucks without him, why in the world did cashman release him?
